Indigenous Land Struggles: Transregional Perspectives Across Asia and Africa (10 April) Dear friends and colleagues - I trust this finds you well.CASA is very pleased to invite you to the first of a series of webinars organized in collaboration with the Interdisciplinary Global Development Centre at York University, focused on how indigenous people’s mobilizations for political recognition, electoral influence, and social justice are entangled with struggles for land in various Asian and African countries.
The webinar takes place on 10 April, 12:00 SAST/CET, 11:00 BST, 15:30 IST, and 17:00 ICT.This webinar features a roundtable discussion with three expert speakers - Lway Mownt Noon, Myanmar-based indigenous activist and current CAHR fellow, Mbuso Nkosi, Lecturer in Sociology, University of the Witwatersrand (South Africa) and Aashish Xaxa, Assistant Professor, Indian Institute of Technology (India). Each speaker will discuss these themes drawing on their recent and ongoing engagements with indigenous land struggles and its relationship with indigenous rights and social justice issues more broadly. This will be followed by Q&A and discussion. You can register for the event using this link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/indigenous-land-strugglestransregional-perspectives-across-asia-and-africa-tickets-868339736527?aff=oddtdtcreatorWarm regards,Alf -----
