Event Review
The meeting with the Institute for Development Studies (IDS)
In this meeting, we discussed with the head of the institute, Professor Karuti Kanyinga and Dr. Herbert Wamalwa about the following key topics. We agreed to offer a partnership program including research work/program, office space and library for short-term, to collaborate on writing a joint Working Paper, holding international seminars and conferences in mid-term, and to provide research projects aimed at enhancing the capacity of PhD students and operating the centers themselves to provide researchers with a global perspective. We agreed to set the goal of sustainability through training research and publication and positively discussed concluding a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in the long term.
The meeting with Department of Art and Social Sciences, University of Nairobi
The deans of the Political Science, Sociology, Archaeology and Professor Iribe Mwangi and Asia-Africa Center discussed establishing IFP (Inter-institutional Familiarization Program) as a regular platform to create common cross-disciplinary issues on social changes and their impact, and to plan for joint research for writing and presenting at international conferences.
We discussed establishing e-school at Nairobi University and offering related partnership programs. Also, we agreed to provide e-school lectures and support active exchange between both sides’ researchers through the Fellowhip and Visiting Scholar programs of the Asia Center.
