Event Review
ACCORD(The African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes), located in Durban, South Africa, was established in 1992 with the goal of achieving political stability and socio-economic recovery through the encouragement and promotion of constructive resolution of conflicts in Africa. This year marks its 30th anniversary.
As part of the Diplomatic Academy program hosted by the Korea Foundation (KF), Vasu Gounden, the founder and executive director of ACCORD, visited the Asia Center at Seoul National University on July 20th. During the meeting, Mr. Gounden, along with Jong Cheol Kim and Joon Hwa Cho from the Asia-Africa Center, discussed ways to enhance future exchange and cooperation.
Mr. Gounden emphasized the importance of strengthening the policing capacity of individual African countries as an alternative to addressing the potential acceleration of African conflicts caused by current international issues. He also expressed his willingness to work with the Asia-Africa Center to explore practical solutions to conflict resolution in the future.
